WhatsApp QR code generator
A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with your number when someone scans it. Enter your phone number with its country code and an optional first message, and the code is generated in your browser. Download it as PNG or SVG, free, no signup.
How it works
- Enter the number. Pick the country and type the number. Spaces, brackets, dashes and a leading zero are removed for you.
- Add a first message. Add a first message if you want one, such as where the code was scanned. It appears pre-filled in the chat and the customer sends it.
- Download and test. Download the PNG for screens and small prints, or the SVG for print at any size. Scan the code with your own phone before you print it.
Where to put a WhatsApp QR code
- The counter or the table, with a line that says what the customer gets by scanning.
- The footer of an invoice or a quote, so questions about it start a chat.
- Business cards and event badges.
- Packaging and delivery notes.
- An email signature, for people reading on a second screen.
Put a word about the location in the pre-filled message, such as "Hi, I scanned the menu", and every chat tells you where it started. The wa.me link generator makes the same link without the code, for bios and buttons.
WhatsApp QR code not scanning
Check four things when a code does not scan. Size: print it at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide, and larger for a poster. Contrast: keep dark modules on a white background. Sharpness: a blurred print fails, so use the SVG for anything larger than a card. The number: it must be the full international number with no plus sign, leading zeros, brackets or dashes, which this tool enforces.
The WhatsApp Business app code and this one
The WhatsApp Business app shows a QR code for the account signed in on that phone. This generator works for any number, gives you the SVG for print and lets you make a different pre-filled message for each place the code appears. The chats arrive in the same place either way, and a team can answer them together from a shared WhatsApp inbox.
Questions, answered
Cost, expiry, tracking and print size. If your question is not here, ask us.
Is the WhatsApp QR code generator free?
Yes. The code is generated in your browser, the PNG and SVG downloads are free and no account or email is needed.
Can I make a QR code for a WhatsApp Business number?
Yes. Any number registered on WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business works. Enter it with the country code.
Does the WhatsApp QR code expire?
No. It is a static code that encodes the wa.me link. It works as long as the number is on WhatsApp.
Can I track scans?
Not with a static code. Put a word in the pre-filled message, such as the location of the sign, and you will see where each chat came from.
Can I add my logo to the code?
This tool does not. Meta's brand rules do not allow the WhatsApp logo to be combined with other images, and a logo in the center lowers the code's reliability. Place your logo next to the code.
What size should a WhatsApp QR code be printed?
At least 2 cm (0.8 in) across for a counter card, and about a tenth of the distance it will be scanned from for a poster. Use the SVG so it stays sharp at any size.
