How the Unified Inbox and inbox groups work

What the Unified Inbox shows, how inbox groups give a team its own scope, what Keep separate does, and how compose picks the inbox to send from.

The Unified Inbox is one list across every inbox you can read. It has the same sections as a single inbox and a chip on each row naming where it came from. An inbox group is a named set of shared inboxes a team works as one scope. Neither changes who can see what: access is always granted per inbox.

The Unified Inbox

Open it from the Inboxes menu in the top bar or from Home. Sections are Priority, Mine, Unassigned, All, Starred, Drafts, Archived and More. Each inbox keeps its own view preferences, so the Incoming setting is applied row by row. Personal inboxes are included for their owner. Unassigned covers shared inboxes only.

Rows carry an inbox chip after the subject, and the open conversation's header shows the same chip. Tags are listed by inbox in the sidebar, and a tag click takes you into that inbox. The count next to each inbox in the sidebar is for the section you are in.

Compose in the Unified Inbox

A new email needs an inbox to send from. The compose window shows Send from above To, listing the inboxes you can write to, grouped when groups exist. Sektra remembers your last choice. Until an inbox is chosen, Send, attachments and templates stay disabled. Reply and forward never ask, because the conversation already belongs to an inbox.

Inbox groups

Settings, then Inboxes, has a Groups card. The account owner creates a group with New group, picks its shared inboxes with Manage inboxes, and can rename or delete it. Only shared inboxes can join a group, and an inbox belongs to one group at a time. Everyone else sees the groups that hold an inbox they can read, with only those inboxes inside.

A group grants nothing. Adding an inbox to a group does not give anyone access to it, and deleting a group leaves its inboxes connected and shared exactly as they were.

Keep separate

A group with Keep separate on is left out of the Unified Inbox and shown only as its own scope. Use it for inboxes a team wants to work on their own, without their conversations mixing into everyone's unified list.

Where groups show up

In the Inboxes menu and the sidebar as their own scope, in Open Sektra on under Settings, Profile, and in the Daily Digest's inbox picker.

No. Groups hold shared inboxes only. A personal inbox still appears in its owner's Unified Inbox.
