How to connect Google or Outlook calendar and what is shared

Connect your own Google or Microsoft calendar, what permissions it asks for, what teammates can see, and how reminders, free time and invites work.

Your calendar connects from Settings, Calendar, through Google or Microsoft sign-in, with calendar permissions only and separately from your mail. One calendar per person, the main one. Teammates see busy times by default, and you choose whether they see details.

  1. Open Calendar settings

Go to Settings, then Calendar, and choose Connect your calendar. Pick Google or Microsoft. A personal IMAP inbox can instead connect the calendar on its mail server.

  2. Approve the calendar permission

Sektra asks only for calendar access, not mail. On Microsoft, if your tenant requires it, the page shows an Admin approval link to send to your Microsoft 365 admin.

  3. Check the time zone

Meetings, working hours and reminders use the time zone saved on your profile. If it is still UTC and your browser differs, Sektra offers to use your browser's zone.

  4. Set working hours and defaults

Working hours and Week starts on shape suggested times. Meetings you create sets the default length, a booking link, and whether a Meet or Teams link is added.

  5. Decide what teammates see

Sharing and Away has Teammates can see: Meeting details, Busy times only (the default) or Private. Set me Away during out-of-office makes auto-assignment skip you while an out-of-office event is on your calendar.

  6. Turn on reminders

Under Settings, Notifications, the Meetings card sets how many minutes before a meeting the reminder arrives, in the bell and as a browser notification. Include a brief adds who is coming, your last emails with them and open promises.

What you get

  • A calendar overlay with Day, 3 days, Week and Month views. Create by dragging, move or resize by dragging, delete, and answer invites. Changes are optimistic with an Undo for a few seconds.
  • Layers for Promises due and Deadlines from your mail, switchable from the More menu.
  • Insert availability in the reply composer: three free slots inside your working hours, with the recipient's zone when it is known.
  • Invite cards in threads: answer an invitation from the thread, as you or as the shared address it was sent to.
  • A Meetings block in Lens, and meeting questions for the assistant.

What is shared, exactly

Teammates with Meeting details see titles and times; your private events show as Busy. Busy times only shows blocks with no titles. Private shows nothing. Join links are never shown to teammates. Free time suggestions for a group use teammates' busy blocks without exposing them.

Disconnecting

Disconnect Calendar on the same page stops syncing and removes your meetings from Sektra. Sektra does not revoke the grant at Google or Microsoft, because the same app connection carries your mail; revoke it from your Google or Microsoft account if you want to.

Contact support
Does connecting my calendar give Sektra my mail?

No. The calendar connection asks only for calendar permissions and keeps its own token. Mail is a separate connection.

Can we connect a shared mailbox's calendar?

No. Calendars belong to people. Each teammate connects their own.

Why is my calendar paused?

Paused accounts keep reading the calendar but stop creating, editing, deleting and answering until a plan is chosen. Disconnect and settings still work.
