What the assistant can do, and what it will not

Where to open the assistant, what it reads, what it can change with your confirmation, how drafts and credits work, and what it never does.

The assistant answers questions from your own mail with cited sources, drafts replies, and acts on the inbox after you confirm. It never sends anything. Open it with Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) on the Assistant tab, or from the Assistant tab of Lens, the panel beside an open thread.

Reading and finding

  • Catch up on a thread: what it is about, who is on it, whether there is a deadline, why it is ranked high.
  • Find conversations by meaning or filter: what came in today, this week's threads from a company, a teammate's assignments, what is unread in an inbox, what you sent yesterday.
  • Triage: what needs you, what is overdue, what you promised, what can wait.
  • People: who someone is, who at a company you know, how a relationship has changed over time. Answers come from the memory layer, the record Sektra keeps per client of commitments, open questions and history.
  • Numbers: how fast the team replied last week, how many credits are left, what plan you are on.

Acting

Assign, tag, star, archive, mark unread, snooze and add a note run at once with an Undo. Trash, anything across several conversations, a note that mentions a teammate, and a snooze longer than a week show a confirmation card first. Every write goes through the same path a click does, so teammates see it live and the mailbox stays in sync.

Drafting

Ask for a reply and the assistant writes one from the thread and the relationship. Open in composer puts it in the reply box for you to edit; Save as draft stores it. It can also fill one of your reply templates. On WhatsApp it says when the 24-hour window is closed instead of drafting a free reply.

Reminders, watches and jobs

Action items are the obligations you hand the assistant, such as a reminder for Monday 9am or a follow-up in three days unless they reply. An archive on Friday or a task to chase legal counts too. Watches are standing instructions to tell you when something happens, such as a client going quiet for a set number of days. A job runs one action across many threads, such as drafting replies for your priority list, with the count confirmed first. Details in How watches and reminders work.

Calendar

With a calendar connected, ask what is on today, find free times, or create, move, delete and answer meetings. Each change is confirmed before it is made and can be undone for a few seconds.

What it will not do

  • Send an email or a WhatsApp message. A person always sends.
  • Act without telling you. Every change shows as a card with Undo, or asks first.
  • Read inboxes you cannot open. It sees what you see.
  • Spend credits in the background. Scheduled reviews that repeat are limited to work that uses no credits.

Contact support
Does the assistant send anything on its own?

No. It drafts, reminds, assigns, tags and briefs, and every action is confirmed or undoable. A person always sends.

What does a question cost?

One credit. A draft costs two, and creating an action item one. Credits are pooled across the team each month and included in the plan; see [How the trial, seats and credits work](/help/trial-seats-credits).

Where does the assistant get its answers?

From the conversations in inboxes you can read, the memory layer built from them, and what you have told it to remember. Each answer cites the messages it came from.

Can I correct it?

Yes. Say remember that Acme invoices go to Sara and it keeps that. Say forget that and it drops it. A wrong deadline or promise on a thread can be removed from the priority panel, and the rank adjusts.
