A shared inbox for any mailbox, on your own domain or your host
Not every client mailbox is on Google or Microsoft. Sektra connects a mailbox on your own domain, a hosting provider or an ISP with its email address and password. It runs as a shared inbox next to Gmail, Outlook, WhatsApp and live chat, and the mail stays on your server.
Connect an IMAP mailbox in a few minutes
Nothing migrates and nobody re-enters a password every day. Four steps, then the team works from Sektra while the mailbox stays where it is.
- 1
Enter the address and password
Choose Other email under Add inbox and enter the mailbox address and password. If the mailbox uses two-step verification, use the app password your provider gives you.
- 2
Sektra finds the settings
Sektra looks up your provider's mail settings for you and shows them before anything is saved, so you can check or correct them.
- 3
Checked once, then saved
Sektra signs in once to make sure the password works. A wrong password is reported right away and never retried, so your host never sees a flood of failed logins.
- 4
Mail starts flowing
Sektra keeps a live connection to the inbox, so new mail lands in about a second. Your other folders are checked every minute.
Your mailbox and Sektra stay in step
Sektra keeps a live connection to the mailbox and watches it the way a desktop mail app does. Read state, flags, archive, trash and folders move both ways, and the mail itself never leaves your server.
The history is read on day one
When a mailbox connects, Sektra reads its newest 50,000 emails in the background, inbox first, then Sent, Archive and your own folders, and builds the record of each client from them.
Replies go out from your address, written in Sektra
A reply written in Sektra leaves through your own mail server and is filed in your Sent folder. The person on the other end sees a normal message from your address.
Password stored encrypted
The password is stored encrypted and is never shown again, not even to you. Change it on your mail server and Sektra asks for the new one.
Encrypted connections only
Sektra talks to your mail server over an encrypted connection and refuses anything less, so your login and your mail never travel in the open.
Encrypted end to end
Encrypted on the way to Sektra and while stored, on servers in the United States. Your mail trains no AI model.
Delete means delete
Disconnect an inbox and it stops syncing. Delete the workspace and everything in it, including the memory layer, is gone within 30 days.
Questions, answered
Permissions, sync and what stays in an IMAP mailbox. If your question is not here, ask us.
Does Sektra support IMAP?
Yes. Any mailbox that offers standard mailbox access connects with its email address and password. It can be a shared inbox for the team or a personal inbox for one seat, next to Gmail, Outlook, WhatsApp and live chat.
Which email providers work?
cPanel and other hosting providers, Namecheap Private Email, ISP mailboxes and self-hosted mail servers. Sektra finds the settings from the address and shows them so you can check them. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 addresses connect through Google or Microsoft sign-in instead.
Is my password stored?
Yes, because a mailbox like this has no sign-in handoff like Google or Microsoft. The password is stored encrypted, is never shown again, and is used only to read and send mail in that mailbox. Change it on your mail server and Sektra asks for the new one.
Do I need an app password?
Only if the mailbox uses two-step verification. Use the app password your provider gives you. Otherwise the normal mailbox password works.
Can two teammates share one mailbox?
Yes. Connect the mailbox once as a shared inbox and grant access per teammate. Everyone works the same threads with one owner each, and your mail server sees one login.
Does an IMAP mailbox count as a shared inbox on my plan?
Yes. It counts the same as a Gmail or Outlook mailbox.
Connect an IMAP mailbox and see it work
Connect in minutes, with nothing to migrate. Sektra reads the history, and the team walks in briefed from day one.
